The Goodwood 9 Hours, August 16, 1952. The Aston Martin DB3 driven by the team of Eric Thompson and Reg Parnell leads the Ferrari 225 Sport of Tom Cole and Graham Whitehead through St. Mary's on the back of thecircuit. The Aston was subsequently destroyed in a raging pit fire while the Ferrari came through second overall.
The Sussex International Trophy Race; Goodwood, June 2, 1952. Perhaps Klemantaski's most famous picture, this photo is of Mike Hawthorn really trying hard in a 2-liter Cooper-Bristol. Hawthorn's courageous performance in this uncompetitive F.2 car (entered for him by his father, Leslie Hawthorn, owner of the famous Tourist Trophy Garage in Farnham near London) created Hawthorn's early reputation and did much to earn him his first'ride' with Ferrari.
This is a great photo of the grandstands empty. This helps us to understand the structure; purely scaffolding with timber plank seating, corrugated iron roof & rear wall and canvass sides.
